A is for...

Tee at The Altered Paper is hosting an Alphabet ATC Swap Series.  We started with the letter "A", and it was our choice what we wanted to create with that letter.
My swap partner was Joanna and I received the above ATC from her.  Simply sweet and gorgeous and I love the color orange, and how she used butterfly wings for my angel.  Lately I have fallen in love with the color orange which is such a hard color to create my opinion.

When Hearts Listen,
Angels Sing!
This was my ATC for Joanna.  A sweet cute little angel.  I decoupaged flower tissue paper for the background and I used  the sweet angel sticker(s) that I have been hanging on for the longest time!

"It was an itsy, bitsy, teenie, weenie, yellow red polka-dot bikini
That she wore for the first time today
An itsy, bitsy, teenie, weenie, yellow polka-dot bikini..."

I received this gorgeous ATC from Sara.  She is the artist of the artwork!
Thank you Sara!

I created this ATC for my swap partner Lori
We all participated in Flikr's Monthly Themed ATC for the month of July.

Now for the month of August I get to create an ATC for Sara, and the theme is anything to do with the Olympics.  I've no idea what to begin with???

Bathing Beauties

I sure love summer for several reasons, but not for its super hot sizzling humid weather!!!

It was fun creating a tag where we were to depict summer bathing beauties.  Just thinking of cool water and cooler weather made my day bearable here in the desert!
The above tag is from my swap partner Denise.  Simply adorable Bathing Babe!  Thank you Denise.

This was my tag for Denise.  I just love the bright cheery colors on my Bathing Beauty, and the  cool sunny background...I wish I were there!

I was very pleased with how it turned out!

Face Only

I received this gorgeous ATC from Jo.  We were swap partner's in The Altered Paper ATC swap for and the theme was Face Only.
Jo's ATC is simply stunning and beautiful!
Thank you Jo!

This was my ATC for Jo

I used a cameo button  and framed it.  I used all kinds of different materials that I had scattered all over my craft table to create this ATC.  I really love how it turned out, and I hope Jo does too!

Team Spirit

I has been a while since I last made a card, and interestingly enough...I felt so rusty!  Well after so much decision making and turning my craft room upside down...this is what I came up with...voila!

CAS (clean & simple cards) challenge on Splitcoaststampers, is having their Fall Design Team search.  For the first challenge we were to create a card using our team's colors (our choice) and didn't need to be a sporty card.  My HS team's colors are green & gold...Go Panthers!
I used my new Faith in Nature stamp set by Stampin' Up! and heat embossed the image with gold embossing powder.
Hopefully, my clean & simple entry will be selected and I can move on to participate in the second challenge.

I received these beautiful mermaid ATC's from Donnalee.  We both participated in Blissful ATC Swap for the month of July.
Donnalee's ATC's are just darling, and I love how she made her own envelope to mail them to me.  She used a 12"x12" designer paper, folded in half, and then sewed the edges shut.  Ingenious!
Thank you Donnalee, and don't be surprised if I copy your envelope idea!

These are my Sirens of the Sea ATC's for Donnalee.  This was a challenge for me since I think I lack the imagination for fantasy/make believe, but I think they turned out pretty good!

A Midsummer Night's Dream Matchbox Swap

Last month I received this gorgeous altered matchbox from the super talented and creative Wanda at Something Shiny-Flickr.  We both participated in Wendy's Vintage Dragonfly's altered art matchbox swap called a A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Wanda captured the ethereal sense that Skakespeare's play exudes: Elizabethan maiden, moonlight, fantasy and magic.  She Filled the box with all things heavenly, ethereal and magical!
Thank you Wanda!

I created this altered matchbox for Wanda.  My theme was forest/nature and a bit of faerie dust.

These are some of the goodies I put together for Wanda.

I especially made this little altered candle for her and wrapped it in a vintage linen doily.  I was inspired by one similar I received as a gift.

Thank you so much for stopping by~

Summer Vintage Hatbox Swap

Michele from Something Special hosted a really neat Summer Vintage Hatbox Swap.  My very talented and generous swap partner was Wendy from The Frog Palace.

Wendy altered this heart shaped hatbox for me and filled it with lots of great treasures.  Thank you Wendy!!!

I made this hatbox for Wendy.  I decoupaged it using designer paper and I created the flower vignette top from burlap, lace, silk flowers, ribbon, and a crotchet doily.  Sorry about the picture but my camera was acting up...or was it me...hmmm?

I filled her round hatbox with lots of goodies and vintage finds.  She loves dresser scarves and sewing materials.

I found this really cool cork sheet of printed (with sticky back) at Michael's in the scrap paper section.  I used it to edge the bottom of the box and side of the lid with it.  I really loved the way it turned out!

Reading & Bookmarks

It has been over a month since my last post and I have so much catching up to do!
I had not been feeling well for a long while, and it finally caught up with me, to the point that I had been placed on medical leave for almost 2 months now.  I have never ever taken time off like this before and I had to learn to take care of myself and to take it easy.  Day by day I am starting to feel like my old self, and hopefully very soon I can go back to finding joy in life in a healthy way!
Well enough about me!

I participated in several fun swaps, and today I will start with one that I really had so much fun with.  I love to read and I always in need of bookmarks.  This swap was hosted by Tee at The Altered Paper and we were to create 2 bookmarks.  My partner was Elysia.

These 2 bookmarks are from Elysia.  Thank you Elysia!!!  I am currently using them to hold my place in a book and a magazine.

These 2 flower bookmarks are the ones I sent to her.  I used flower punches to make the distressed flowers and corduroy covered buttons.  I found the giant bookmarks at WalMart years ago.
This summer I have discovered a new book author and have not been able to put her books downs.  Her name is Lisa Wingate and she is a "fiction writer that's good for the soul."

Here is the back of the bookmark!

In the next couple of weeks I will post more swaps that I received and I sent out.  Hopefully, I'll post them in chronological order.
