Spring Banner

I have so much fun making banners!
They're fun and easy to make.
I made this spring banner for Rebekah from Living & Learning.
Rebekah and I participated in a recent teacup exchange hosted by Stephanie (The Enchanting Rose).
Rebekah was my partner and I included this banner for her as part of her gift.
With all of the excitement of getting Rebekah's teacup package all wrapped up and making sure it got to her in time, I forgot to take a picture of her teacup;
but you can go here and take a peek!

Tea Cup Exchange

I participated in a fun and lovely teacup exchange hosted by Stephanie from The Enchanting Rose.
I received this beautiful yellow rose teacup and saucer from Carol Van.  She also included a beautiful springy tag, tea bags, and butter almond biscuits!
Carol's grandmother called this cup and saucer "the snowflake" pattern, because no two are alike.

The design on the saucer reminds me of a 50's vintage wedding...soft and lacey.
Funny how my mind works sometimes...hmmm...
And as I drink my tea, I can also enjoy taking a peek at another beautiful yellow rose.
Thank you Carol for my beautiful teacup and saucer.
I sent a teacup to Rebekah from Living & Learning, but with all of the excitement of getting her package all wrapped up and making sure it got to her in time, I forgot to take a picture of her teacup.  You can go here and take a peek!

Knitted Dishcloth #10

For some reason I thought I had backup dishcloths...but I was absolutely wrong!
It was time to start knitting dishcloths again...
 Perfect timing...
as I was cleaning out and organizing my garage, I ran across my dishcloth pattern book.  I knew I had this book!  Thank goodness I'm not loosing it!!!
I decided to knit Stacked Barrels of 16 dishcloth patterns.
I've had this pattern book for years!
And this new acquired Longaberger basket is the perfect work in progress (WIP) carrier I like to play with!!!
I absolutely love love love my Longaberger baskets!
Here's the pattern.
I love having dishcloths in my kitchen.  Once you're done using them, rinse thoroughly and hang to dry.  I hang them on the oven door's handle.  I also put them on the top rack of the dishwasher to sanitize them, but I always like to have plenty of dishcloths on hand to use daily or as needed.

Orange Blossoms

Our only little old orange tree is full of fragrant orange blossoms!
It smells heavenly!
Most people blame allergies to the orange blossom, but that is not the case.  Our local allergies at this time of season are caused by mulberry and ash trees.
Its few small juicy oranges produce the sweetest juice...and I mean sweet!
We have no idea how old it is, but it surely is dying little by little.
Hubby has been making sure it's well watered, fertilized and pruning away the old dried branches.  We're hoping that maybe we can keep it for another season, but I think we should start looking to plant another orange tree in our yard.
I would like to have an orange, pink grapefruit, kumquat and lemon trees in our yard.
We did plant our very first lemon tree and luckily, it's doing great!
See the tiny lemons & blossoms!
Hubby loves Lemon Bars and I love to make pink lemonade!

I am so happy that spring has made its way to us in Arizona!!!
Sunny, cool and bright beautiful days!  Windows and doors open to let the cool spring breeze (along with allergies) in and freshen up the house.
This year I decided to make a little bunny vignette on our dining room hutch.
Over the years I have received and collected some of these adorable bunnies.
This cute bunny was a gift from my sister to me several Easters ago.  I love its upturned nose and big smile!

This little bunny dish is my latest precious addition to my tiny bunny collection.

This ATC is not bunny related, but I thought it looks great hanging from one of the hutch lamps.
I also added this gorgeous tag to the other lamp.
I just love how spring makes me feel ~ happy!

7 Layer Salad

I made this salad for a family get-together dinner at mom's last week.
I wanted to make it a little special and not just a big tossed salad.  It's an easy salad to prepare and it always looks so good!
You can use 7 of your favorite salad vegetables (or more) and thinly slice, shred or grate them.  Of course, you must use a clear dish that is big enough to hold the ingredients so the colorful layers can be seen through.
I used the following ingredients:
~shredded lettuce
~grated carrots
~thinly sliced red onion
~frozen early harvest petite peas
~sliced radishes
~sliced mushrooms
~cherry tomatoes
~sliced bell pepper (your choice of red, yellow, orange or green)
For this salad, I chose to serve it with Lemon Dressing:
*1/4 cup olive oil
*2 tablespoons lemon juice
*1/2 teaspoon sugar
*1 1/2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
*1/4 teaspoon salt
*1/8 teaspoon pepper

Shake all ingredients in a tightly covered Mason jar.  I quadrupled the recipe so that each person could pour over their salad to their taste.

Pink Saturday

My collection of some pink altered pins I received from swap partners.  I use this old pin cushion from Niagara Falls, NY, to display them and remind me to use them.
I use the pins to decorate cards, banners or anything I think needs a little touch of bling.

Crock Pot Swiss Steak

A couple of years ago I participated in several 6"x6" recipe swaps.  We had options as to what kind of recipes we wanted to participate in: desserts, crock pot, beef, chicken, appetizers, grill...
Of course, in my case, I never found the time to organize the recipe cards and try out the recipes.

Well, I decided to dust off and organize my recipe cards, and give them a try.
I chose to make a crock pot meal first, which was easy to prepare and it turned out to be delicious!
 Crock Pot Swiss Steak

I would like to try at least 1-2 recipes per week, especially for those days I have no clue as to what to make for dinner, besides reservations...LOL!

Lucky Frame

It's a gorgeous day here!
We had very refreshing pouring rain over the weekend to soak up our parched desert.
Everything looks so much greener and brighter, too!

The idea of spring being so near, makes me so happy!!!
