5-minute Chocolate Cake

  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
  • A small splash of vanilla extract
  • 1 large coffee mug (MicroSafe)
Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again. Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts. The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!
Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
This can serve 2...and why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world?
Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!
  • Oliva! Oh no! I made this last night and it works and it's yummy! This, vanilla ice cream and some chocolate syrup...dangerous. ~ Debbie Ohlson
  • Oliva,
This really works – I helped my granddaughters make it. We sliced it in half and then poured cherry pie filling on it and topped it with cool whip. They made dessert for their parents. ~ Ernie Bohn

Easter 2009

My Easter card for Hubby!
I didn't have time this year to make Easter cards. This is a card I created for Easter 2007 which I meant to mail out, but didn't get a chance to do...!!!
its message HOPe,
its meaning LIFE,
its reason LOVE.
FYI: Tulips by my friend Anna! Thank you Anna!!!

The "Hub" & "Kitty Kats"

This is the "Retired Life" I want to live!!!
DH & Oliver lying restfully on family room couch; Phoebe in her most favorite vantage outlook point!
I am so jealous!!! It should be ME!!!

MN Ohlsons

DH's brother, Chip & his wife Jan, came to visit us here in Arizona all the way from the "Big White Cold North ~ Minnesota"!
We enjoy their company so much, and we have loads of fun, even though I had to work :-(
I can't wait to be so retired!!!
Jan & I in our Joe Arpaio's stripped jail-house tops...LOL!!! It's definitely a fashion faux paux for me!!! It has most certainly added not 10 but 40 lbs to my slim figure!!! Ahhh...!!! Please don't focus on my top heavy endowment, but take a look at those fabulous great looking legs of mine my DH "fell in love with!!!"
Thanks Chip & Jan for the so very wonderful & "way too short" visit! See you in September when the new"Krych-Ohlson" new-born arrival gets here! We can't wait!
I am in my so very knitting, crocheting and quilting mode!!!

Administrative Professionals Day

I had a wonderful surprise this past Wednesday as I came first thing in the morning to work, that is rushing/flying through heavy morning traffic and tons of construction detours trying to beat the clock...and as I walked into the office...a gorgeous colorful fresh cut bouquet of flowers were at my desk!!!
I took pictures this morning...and look at these beautiful flowers...still so very fresh! Thank you so much to my HR Team! I feel very appreciated!
I love flowers!

Our Blooming Backyard

After a couple of very hot days and yesterday's high winds, we woke up to a glorious and perfect Spring Day!
These are a few pics I took today of our blooming backyard...the above picture is a potted thyme plant which is flowering...
I call this "red lantana"...
You guessed it "yellow lantana"...
Ying & Yang...
As I was taking pics of this lantana bush, a family of cottontail bunnies took off in a fast to take pictures of them...
These are our oleander plants blooming to perfection! About 2 years ago, we had a horrible winter frost, and we thought these oleanders were history...thankfully, after much tending by DH...look at them now!
The round bush is an ornamental orange tree..

It's A Shower!

About 2 years ago, Norma's (co-worker) daughter Bree was expecting her first child. As a gift to Bree, I made her a set of 40+ baby shower invitations. I had so much fun making these cards.
This is my sample.
Bree chose the color combo and she gave me full reign to create her cards. I chose the card sketch/design and the stamp set is from SU! A New Little Someone.
I used VersaMark and heat embossed with JoAnn's Pastel Pink Embossing Powder the front, back & inside of card.

For the sample, I stamped with StaZon Jet Black ink on vellum. Once Bree gave me the invitation info, I Xerox it onto vellum.

Bon Appetit!

I made this awesome altered 5x5 recipe book at one of Vivian Potter's Make & Take workshops, and it served as my inspiration to make one for SCS 2009 DSS Little Sister Round 1, Donna Smit, aka donna112244.
For the month of February our DSS Coordinator challenged us to make an altered item to give our Little Sister, and knowing that Donna enjoys cooking, I made one for her. I used the same SU! Voila stamp set for Donna's book. For the tabs I used SU! Totally Tabs stamp set and tab punch. I left the tabs blank so that Donna could personalize it to her taste. Her book is a 6x6.I don't have a binding machine, so I took it to Kinko's to have it bind.

Fab Pink

I picked pink. This challenge was hard working with non-traditional colors! When I think of Christmas, red & green come to my mind right away. This challenge really let me think outside the box, and I actually am pleased with the result!
The sketch is from Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge #50, which I had been wanting to use for the longest time. I cuttlebugged the light pink background with the Snowflake CB embossing folder, which disappears with the green cardstock layer, but I wanted to give the card some texture. I stamped the leaf image from SU! Peaceful Wishes stamp set on the green background to give the appearance that ornaments are hanging from the Christmas tree. I used Glorious Green & Positively Pink SU! Markers to color the Christmas ornament stamp image, which I then "huffed & puffed" before stamping on paper. To add a little extra on the ornament, I added Diamond Glaze to each tiny swirl and then sprinkle Denami Design Lemon Sorbet Sparklets.

Easter Bunny

Sorry for the blurry pictures. I took these 2 pics through the window.
Phoebe, our kitty, alerted us to our backyard visitor while we were in the kitchen making tonight's dinner. She gets super excited!
This is an adorable baby bunny.
I don't know if you can see the bunny, but I hope you can see its ears.
Here she is watching every bunny move!

Blooming Cactus

Our Spring Desert is blooming, and I took these pictures from our cactus in our front yard. I am amazed at the beautiful blooms this very prickly and untouchable plant can produce!
Hubby and I practically waited all day for these flowers to bloom, and they finally did around 6 pm this evening.

Spring Roses

Hubby has been tending our rose bushes and I have to admit he has done a great job!
I wish you could smell their sweet fragance...

Wedding Anniversary Card by Pat Honc

Pat Honc, my SCS Divine Secret Sibling Big Sister, sent me this absolutely gorgeous wedding anniversary card! I love how she embossed the hearts. If you look closely, you will see the silver embossed small hearts. The colors on the cardstock go so well with the beautiful designer paper!
Thank you Pat!
