Poinsettias and Special Christmas Cards

Christmas to me is not complete without Poinsettias!
Hubby brought these home!

I received the following beautiful handmade Christmas cards from very special crafty friends!
From Enedelia who I just recently met.  She makes unbelievably gorgeous cards!
From Vivian who I have known for several years now, and never ceases to amaze me with her talent at creating gorgeous cards!
From Deb who I will be meeting in April.  She and her Hubby will be celebrating their wedding anniversary here in Arizona.  She wants to see a real life giant Sahuaro Cactus...and boy do we have them!
From Jennalee, a new Instagram creative friend!  She loves using old photos, and can you believe that she handmade 75+ paper poinsettias!!!
This beauty came all the way from Puerto Rico!  Mayra and I met through a Facebook Pocket Letter Swap group.  She is unbelievable so very meticulous and creative with her artwork.
I received this adorable "doggie" card from Deb!!!  I get a big smile every time I see this cute card.  Just way too cute!
Thank you Ladies for making my Christmas special!

Have a great and safe New Year's Eve!!!

Christmas Day

On Christmas Day, Hubby and I celebrated Christmas at home.  My Sister and her son's family celebrated with us as well.

I didn't decorate much this year for Christmas.  I was lucky enough to be able to put up the tree, add a few other Christmas decorations in the dining/living room and that was it!!!
I took this picture of our improvised little Nativity scene a day before Christmas.  Baby Jesus doesn't come out until Christmas Day!
A very blurry picture of our Christmas Tree.
After dinner, Hubby prepared our main dessert.  He let of us bruleed our own custard.
My sister brought a super delicious apple pie from Cracker Barrel.  Macaroons and Red Velvet Cake were very good too.
It was such a pleasant day celebrating Christmas together as a family!
The above and below pictures show you the completed tiled floor done over a month ago.
We love it!!!  It makes this area of the house more open and bigger.

Today I will clean house, do laundry and maybe I'll have some time to work on some card making!

Parties and Swaps

December has been such a busy, fun and interesting month!
Christmas parties, Bunco dinners, Girlz Christmas Dinners and get-togethers, Dirty Santa games, swaps, Church events, celebrations and more.
This year was my first Christmas party at Vivian's.  Vivian hosts monthly stamping make & takes at her home, and for December she hosts a Christmas party for all of us stampers.  Vivian made each of us a little paper bag filled with chocolate, a Christmas card and home made stamp cleaner!  I just can't believe how pretty and sturdy the bag is!  Thank you Vivian.

We visit with each other, make new friends or get to know each other a little bit more, eat delicious holiday food, have a fabulous time and play Dirty Santa!

We all bring a handmade gift to exchange, and let me tell you...these Ladies are just way too talented!!!
  From gorgeous handmade wreaths,
to chocolate truffles, to quilted place mats and table runner, and...
to one super talented Lady making this amazing Mason Jar wood box all decorated for Christmas...she did the carpentry all by herself!!!  This wood box can be changed/decorated according to holidays or seasons.  Unfortunately sad, it was immediately taken away from me.
I was super impressed by all, and now I'm planning to make something super spectacular for next year!

Besides being a social butterfly, I still had to finish one last swap before the end of December!!!

These hexie flower petals are on their way to England for Celine.  I visited her blog and I was simply amazed at her quilting talent!!!
Celine was my partner for the month of December.  We both participate in The Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap.  She prefers greys, tone-on-tone or stone/marble like fabrics.  I can't wait to see what she creates with these hexies.

Hubby and I celebrate the coming of the New Year at home...relaxing & chilling out!
What are your plans?
Stay safe!

Deb introduced me to Pocket Letters mania, and now I'm hooked.

Let It Snow Shaker Card

This is my very first shaker card, and it wasn't as complicated as I thought it would be!
I paper embossed the background (blue) with the Sledding embossing folder, and colored the snowman's nose, eyes, mouth and arms with markers.  Using a sponge I lightly rubbed a very light blue ink over the paper to highlight the embossed ridges.
I embossed a transparency sheet with the Snowflakes embossing folder. I used a narrow strip of long foam tape around the edge of the blue paper, and then placed the embossed transparency sheet over it...leaving a small opening to pour the snow glitter/powder and snowflakes.
 ~inside of card~
The finishing touch was the negative of the Top Note die cut using snowy glittered card stock, and a a metallic snowflake to boot!
I hope that by now my swap partner has received it and likes it!

Here's my second card of the season!  A very simple white-on-white winter scene card!
I created this card for a swap: Happy LadyBug Card Swap~Facebook
The challenge was to make a monochromatic card.  I chose all white, and I think my card turned out to be a very clean and simple card.
The only stamping on the making of this card was on the inside.
I used the Winter embossing folder for the background.  I then embossed a piece of transparency sheet with the Snowflakes embossing folder for the top layer.  I hope my swap partner likes it.

I finally decorated the front door of our home, and the best part of today is that I don't have to go anywhere...woo hoo!!!

Today I will:
  • attempt on decorating our Christmas trees...I can do it I can do it I can do it...
  • add some Christmas touches throughout the house
  • take doggies for a walk
  • clean one bathroom
  • work on December's Hexie swap; all I have to do is make 14 petals
  • BLOG!!!

A Collage Christmas Card

After many months of not making a card, I was a bit rusty, but it got me back to making cards!
I made this card for a swap on Instagram.  Jennalee is hosting a Handmade Christmas Card Exchange so that she gets happy mail on a daily basis through the Christmas season.  In exchange I will be receiving one from her as well.

I created a vintage shabby card for her.  I admire Linda's (The Funkie Junkie) style, and I thought I would give it a try.  Well...I have a ways to go to achieve her creativity...LOL!
I just hope Jennalee likes it as much as I do!

Catching Up

Hi!  Thank you so much "to you" for continuing to stop by and leave me wonderful and encouraging comments.  Just so you know I do quickly visit your blogs for a quick look and see what your up to.  I apologize for not reciprocating with a comment!

I'm totally in the Christmas spirit, but for some reason I really don't feel like decorating our home.  I will try to decorate our tree today though... Oh Dear...I'm hosting Christmas dinner...I better get with it!!!

Besides catching up on several swaps, I have been involved with the Women's Guild at Church and I sure have been kept busy...but fun busy!  I'm glad that today will be our last meeting and then I will definitely have more time to do things around home.

Now onto recent swaps:
These are 2 hexies I made for my November Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap.  Maggie requested Civil War fabrics in tan and cream colors.

This was a fun and a quick Pretty Paper Swap I sent Alfie.  Alfie and I were swap partners and I also received from her very and lots of pretty paper.  Alfie and I belong to Happy LadyBug Card Swaps Group through Facebook.  This was first swap with this group, and I like it!
I included this card for Alfie and left it blank for her to use as she needs.  This swap package didn't have to go far.  Alfie lives in Arizona too.

Have a wonderful day!!!
