Do you ever need a last minute hostess gift to put together within mere minutes and not having to spend too much? I think I came up with a quick gift idea and also a little different.
I was invited to a friends' get together luncheon last Sunday, and not wanting to show up empty handed, I quickly arranged a hostess gift for Marcia & Sal.
Remember the floral bookmarks I made last week? They came in handy!!!
I hung two bookmarks from a bag filled with Cerreta's Fine Chocolates for Marcia & Sal. I think the handmade bookmarks added a personal touch, and the chocolate is local and delicious.

No...it is not Christmas yet!
For Christmas Hubby came home with two Poinsettias; and I can't believe the white one is still thriving!
The red one not so much, but it's shooting new leaves, after I almost killed it by over watering.

There's something about shish kabobs I love.
It could be that shish kabobs to me are a summer easy grilling food! Yum!!!
It's not yet summer, and I was too lazy to start up the grill, and so I just cooked the chicken kabobs on a cast iron skillet over the stove.
I cut up nice size chunks of chicken breast, bell peppers, onions (that's all I had on hand). You can always add other vegetables like mushrooms, tomatoes, zucchini, eggplant, ...
I seasoned the kabobs with (to my taste; I don't have an exact recipe for this; I just seasoned as I please):
- sea or kosher salt
- black pepper
- garlic powder
- Spice Islands Poultry Seasoning
- olive oil
- Worcestershire Sauce
- lemon & orange juice
I let the kabobs marinade for at least a day, turning them once or twice in the baking pan. Once I'm ready to cook them, I pre-heat and oil my black cast iron skillet. I cook kabobs on each side for at least 20 minutes on medium low heat. I add the marinade to the cooking kabobs as well. I adjust heat as needed while cooking.

My one and only favorite sister Veronica has a thing for bookmarks!!!
Thanks to a dear friend who die cut the bookmarks for me, and all I had to do was add a second layer, and...
stamped some flower images, and...
selected a few religious phrases and quotes, and...
added a ribbon to each bookmark to finish them off.
Now when my sister comes over, I'll have some bookmarks for her to select and add to her collection or give away as she wishes.

Last summer I found this long piece of vintage crochet edging/border at my local thrift store for about $1!
I had planned to eventually use it somehow.
Well...the day finally came to take it out of the linen closet, and put it to good use. I was ready to clean and update our china hutch for the summer. I like to brighten and lighten up the hutch during spring and summer months. This is a great way for me to take out and display some of my Milk Glass collection.
I just love this picture of our dining room!!!
I used little pieces of Velcro to adhered the crochet edging to the two shelves inside hutch. It hurt me having to cut it in half!!!
Once I finished the hutch, I also changed the buffet hutch display.
Glass, crystal, pearls, silver, seashells, ...

For the last several weeks, it has been very hard. Friends of mine have lost their loved ones. Even though their parents were old, it's still not easy to accept or makes it any better. The only comfort you might get, is that their loved ones are no longer in pain.
The saddest part was that both families lost their mother on or before Mother's Day of this year.
May they rest in peace.
It has been really hard to sit down and make sympathy cards. I just hope that my cards will show how much I care for them.

My very dear Crafty Friend Enedelia made and presented me with this most adorable Minnie Mouse Tilda Doll for Mother's Day. Even though I'm not a mom, she said that I had furry babies and that made me a MOM!!!
This was my table with my ever loyal companion Jack! I'm a messy crafter!
The week before Mother's Day, the Girlz and I got together and crafted all day long!!! We each had our on table to spread out to work on our own crafts. I work on several things, while Enedelia spent all day sewing Tilda Dolls!!! I didn't even know she was working on my little Minnie Tilda!
Of course, we had plenty of food to keep us energized throughout the day!
I made a Tater Tot Breakfast Pizza for our brunch.
Enedelia's Hubby prepared and made this very delicious and healthy fruit platter for us...pineapple, fresh coconut, mango, jicama, honeydew and melon served with cottage. We munched on this for most of the day!
One of the other Girls shared a most delicious marble cake from this really good local bakery shop! I will admit that I had a huge slice and did not feel guilty one bit! I enjoyed it!
Believe it or not, the day flew by so fast!
We worked so hard and we accomplished most of our work. We talked, shared our crazy lives with each other, and the best part was that we laughed and had a fabulous time together!!!

Don't be anxious about anything
My AZ geraniums are in full bloom!
The best part is that some type of squash or melon is thriving along with my flowers. I leave in two weeks for MN (Snowbird here); and I'm hoping that before I leave I might get a little sign as to what might it be.
My mom will be taking care of my plants for the summer. She has a green thumb!!!
Have a wonderful day!!!

I made two extra Mother's Day cards for 2 of my friends who by accident got to preview/see these cards I had planned to mail out to them. It turned out to be the perfect opportunity to learn to make this type of card called Peek-a-Boo tri-fold card.
This is what the card looks once you open it. You embellish it as you please.
I hope you give it a try.

My best friend's father passed away last Sunday from cancer.
May he rest in peace.
I made this sympathy card for her.

I really struggled making this card for her, just knowing the pain she's in.

A very Happy Belated Mother's Day to all!
I made a set of about 18-20 Mother's Day cards for all of the wonderful moms I know!
This type of card is called a single diagonal pocket card; which is a variation to a diagonal double pocket card. I have never made one before, and I was so inspired to make one by a card I received from Deb for Valentine's. I used an 8.5" x 11" piece of card stock or designer paper for the card base (all folds and no cutting paper). I had a hard time finding the link where I found the tutorial for this type of card...I'll keep searching for it.
I included a bookmark in each card as a little gift.

I made the cards in different colors and styles.

I celebrated Mother's Day with my Mom and Sister. We had a very pleasant breakfast out!!!
