Good Read

picture via Amazon
I don't know if I have shared this before, but I love to read...more like devour books...especially good books.
I just recently finished reading Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay.  It was funny how I finally ended up reading this book.  First, I saw the movie.  After watching the movie, I had so many questions that were unanswered and I needed to learn more about  what happened in Paris on July 16, 1942.  I never knew or had heard about Velodrome d'Hiver.   Terrible and so very sad!
Second, I read Liz's book review, and I knew I had to read this book; and lastly a friend of mine had read it and let me borrow the book.  I couldn't put it down!

One thing I have learned about watching movies based on a good book, is that I much rather read the book.

Cooking 101

I am sharing a recipe that has become a favorite in our home:
Rita at Rita's Recipes shared this recipe in her cooking blog.

After: baked/cooked.  Yummy!!!
Cooking Tip: since I just cook for Hubby and I, the cranberry sauce makes enough for 2 dinners.  I freeze half of it for another night.

It's wonderful to come home to happy mail and packages...especially after long days at work!  I received this beautiful ATC from Amy at Crafty Book Nerd.
It's just so lovely!

...and along her beautiful February ATC, she included so many goodies to play with!  Thank you Amy.  You're way too generous!

This is my ATC I sent Amy.

We both are participating in Tee's monthly ATC swap.  It's obvious as what theme Amy and I chose: St. Valentine's Day!  Our other theme choice was Groundhogs Day.
Thank you Tee for these wonderful fun swaps!

Be My Valentine Matchbox Swap

I received this beautiful altered matchbox from Marian at MaidMarianMade!
I love the shabby feel and soft colors!  Thank you Marian!

This swap was hosted by Joanne at Vintage Dragonfly.  We were to think Valentine and think miniature!
We altered our 32 count matchbox in keeping with the valentine theme, and for the really fun part and challenge, we were to create 3 miniature valentine ATC's that fit inside the box.

...and this is my altered Valentine's matchbox for Marian.

Thank you Joanne!  This was a sweet and very fun swap!

February Tag Swap

Another February swap update!
Tee at The Altered Paper is hosting a monthly tag swap which I have signed up for, and these are February's tags.

My swap partner was Georgie from Puddin' n Pie who sent me this gorgeous tag!  Georgie did both sides of the tag which I love!

This is the other side of the tag.  Just lovely!
Perhaps on my next tag I will do this as well.

Along with her beautiful tag, she also added some gifts...buttons and a beautiful handmade card.  Thank you Georgie!

...and this is my tag I sent Georgie who recently got married!  Congratulations!

In the next couple of days, I will continue to share more posts on swaps I have received.
Enjoy today!

Pin Cushion Swap

I am so happy I have a long 3-day weekend to rest and catch up with my personal life!
My job has consumed my life outside of work.  Everyday is a new challenge with more responsibilities and not enough hours in a day!  So very frustrating.
Well enough of my venting and let me start enjoying my 3-day of freedom!

Roses from our garden.  So very fragrant and beautiful!

I participated in a pin cushion swap at Tee's from The Altered Paper.  This cute pin cushion with hand made pins was created for me by Donna at Red Apple Junction.  I love the gingham and lace!
Thank you Donna!

...and this was my creation for Donna.  A pin cushion that resembles very much like a cupcake (or so it seems to me)!

For being my very first pin cushion, I think it turned out pretty well!

I really am enjoying participating in these swaps.  It amazes me how talented all these ladies are and I get to learn from them!

Well for today Hubby and I have several things planned, but first we are on our way out for our morning exercise.  Later we will go to this huge book sale in our community.  We have our long list of books and authors that we hope to find and buy, and later this evening I am off to play bunco.  This bunco group is not my regular group.  I was invited to sub for one of the ladies, so I will be meeting 10 new ladies tonight!  Hope to win$

Enjoy Life!

Winter Thyme

I hope you all had a wonderful St. Valentine's Day!  Hubby was so sweet and had flowers delivered to me at work!  Gorgeous bouquet!

For the last couple of days I have been receiving "happy mail/packages" from several swaps I participated in.

I received this adorable and whimsical stick pin holder and altered stick pins from the talented Fran at The Bagg Lady.  Fran is one very artistic and creative lady.  I love her artwork!  We both participated in a winter stick pin swap hosted by Tee at The Altered Paper.
Thank you Fran...I love it!

This set of 12 Christmas cards are for the monthly Christmas Card Challenge 2012 over at SplitCoastStampers.  This is my set for the month of February.  For some reason this year I can't get enough of snowflakes!

Flowers and Printable

I am so happy February is finally here.  February to me is a happy rosy month!
I am participating in Liz's at Rose Vignettes Fresh Cut Fridays...and yes I'm a tad's Sunday for crying out loud!

I chose this miniature hybrid rose as a treat to myself.  I love how fresh and healthy looking its roses and leaves look and so very delicate too.  To display my flowers I picked one of my milk glass cache pots.

Please stop by Liz's to read about hers and others beautiful fresh cuts.

I have to share this really neat printable that I spotted last year at Rita's May Days, which she found via Betty Crocker Wannabe.  Thank you ladies!

My day is going to be spent on catching up on swap projects I need to get done and ready for shipping, the usual household business of keeping up with it, and watching the BIG GAME with Hubby.
Hope your day is a good one!
