It's A White Christmas

Tom and I just got back from Minneapolis. I had never experienced weather below ZERO! Talk about chilly, but beautiful! I took this picture from inside the was too cold to go outside!
We had a wonderful time celebrating Christmas with Hubbie's family! We even had time to spent a day at Mall of America: shopped, took in a movie: Benjamin Button ~ "amazing movie", and had dinner at an Italian restaurant ~ delicious!
As always, Tom's family makes me feel so very welcome, and I really appreciate their hospitality!

A Little Gift...

I put together this 2009 Calendar for family & friends. Six are going to Minneapolis tomorrow! I planned to make more elaborate calendars out of coasters, but never got around to it. These were a cinch to make, and will take less space in my suitcase. This calendar is a CASE from Karen's calendar that she gave to us "Peoria Posies" last Sunday.

No Time for Stamping...

I have been a "Social Butterfly" since last Saturday... Stamping get-together, Red Hat Event, Office Party, Bunco Night, birthday party, and Company Party...and in-between: Christmas Cookie Exchange, Secret Santa, shopping, wrapping, mailing, working, carpooling, delivering... This season has been so busy!!! In the past I have always been very organized...What happened to me this year?
At this time I am finishing laundry and packing for a trip to Minneapolis to spend Christmas with Hubbie's family...I hope I can finish their calendars tonight...This has never happened to me before...I am a little stressed to say the least...
I am grateful that DH is now retired and does most of the chores around the house, and has helped me with Christmas shopping,...Thank you Sweetheart!

'Twas the night before Christmas...

Last year my friend Karen taught me how to make this Christmas tree out of a tomato trellis and garland! Yes, that's right a tomato trellis!!! Thank you Karen.
This year I made a smaller version for our bedroom. In the 20 years DH and I've been married, we have collected a lot of precious Christmas ornaments. I can easily name who gave us each ornament or where we acquired them from.
Living in the Arizona desert, you really don't need a fireplace. So to hang our stockings we improvise! Tom's is hanging on the left and mine's on the right. Oliver & Phoebe's is in the middle. Ollie & Phibbs are our adored and very spoiled Kitties.
My collection of stuffed snowmen. It is a big surprise to us that our Kitties haven't played with them this year. Last year, the poor snowmen were toys for our "babies"! I was constantly picking them off the floor.
My collection of Nutcrackers. This collection started a couple of years ago, when my father-in-law gave me my very first Nutcracker. So it has become a tradition that every Christmas I know for sure I will be getting one. I can't wait for Christmas!!!

Red Hat Peoria Posies

Our Red Hat group gathered at my house to celebrate Christmas. Everyone brought a delicious appetizer to share. We had a White Elephant Gift Exchange. I ended up with "Red Hat Socks", which I stole from Lee. Sorry Lee!
Our Group meets monthly and whoever hosts a month plans a fun activity, whether is going to see a movie, watch a play, a get-away to a local resort, have a tea party, ...
Top Row from left to right: Lee, Karen, Linda, Patti, Cinda, Billie, Connie, Cynthia
Bottom Row from left to right: Cruz, Ernie, Our "Queen Bee" Kaye (sitting), Oliva (me on my knees)
Lea and I took turns taking pictures. Lea is on the top row behind our Queen Bee Kaye, sitting, to the right (blonde wearing a black jacket).

Holiday Lighted Boat Parade

This is Sun City's Viewpoint Lake Homeowners 22nd annual edition of the Holiday Lighted Boat Parade. The parade offers spectacular views of the decorated boats and homes reflected in the Lake. There was a band playing holiday music. Sunset is beautiful!

I just love this picture even though is a little fussy. Several homeowners were having private parties out on their decks/patios. Too bad I wasn't one of their guests...

My camera's batteries decided to die :-(

It's Beginning to Look Like Christmas...

I'm playing with my camera!
Hubbie put up the Christmas lights on Monday! This is the second Christmas at our new place. Last year due to the declining health of my Dad, we didn't get to put up the lights. We did have our Christmas tree all decorated, though.
More pictures to come...

Snowy Friends

Thanks to my SCS Big Sister Linda Borneman, I put together this card. I used the stamped image she sent me and the gold rhinestone stickers. Thank you Linda!
Linda has a new weekly color challenge over at Paper Craft Planet: Clear Dollar Stamp Weekend Color Challenge. Linda is a very talented artist and you will be in awe of her work. Her artwork has so much detail and creativity...absolutely unique!
I wasn't able to do this weekend's challenge, because I didn't have the colors... :-(

Kitty Under Glass

This is my take on yesterday's SCS Inspiration Challenge, IC157. I picked this pendant from Etsy: Images Under Glass as my inspiration. I loved all of the pendants. They are so unique! I had not stamped in a while, and it took me all morning to decide what to do...:-( I feel like I have wasted most of my morning! This is my first card taken with my new digital Canon camera! I still have to figure out how to do my signature in watermark!

Canon Power Shot

For my birthday my DH gave me a digital camera!!! This is one of the first pictures I took with it. It is amazing at the beautiful pictures it takes!!! I'm so more one-dimensional cards posted here...I'm going 3-D! LOL!!
I was a little intimidated by all of the instructional manuals and cords the camera came with!!
Well, no more! I will have fun with it and learn along the way!

What The Holidays Mean to You

For you, the holidays are a very spiritual time. You have as much holiday fun as everyone else - but you never forget what you're celebrating.

You celebrate the holidays in an over the top style. If something is cute, you'll buy it. People end up with a lot of gifts from you - and your house is like a holiday wonderland, full of decorations.

During the holidays, you feel magical. You love all of the decorations and how happy people are. You like to sit back and take it all in.

You think the holidays should be decadent and indulgent. You never mind gaining a few holiday pounds... it's worth it!

Your favorite holiday memories strongly evoke your senses. You are vividly aware of all the tastes, smells, and sounds of the holidays.

I Can Cry If I want to...

I know it is just another #!...but must they get here so soon...!!! I can cry if I want too, after all, it is my birthday!!! I made myself a birthday card...Why? My birthday always happens to fall around Thanksgiving, and unfortunately, parents, family, friends...say, "Well Christmas is coming soon, and will celebrate then..." Yes! It is getting closer to the BIG ONE! Am I feeling sorry for myself? Yup! I am! And...???
Chocolate Birthday Cake with butter cream filling & fondant icing! Yum Yum!!!

What Your Sunglasses Say About You

You are chic, bold, and mysterious.

You are larger than life and very sexy.

You need to be shaded from people who are dull and ordinary.

You feel sunniest when you're around fabulous, exciting people

A Normal Girl

You Are a Normal Girl

You are 60% Good and 40% Bad

Sure you've pulled some bad girl stunts in your past.

But these days, you're (mostly) a good girl.

The O'Hara Plantation

Tara, The O'Hara Plantation
Over at Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge was to make a card based on the epic movie Gone With the Wind. I have seen the movie a couple of times and I challenged myself to read the book many years ago from beginning to end. I did it!!! My most favorite part of the story is how much Scarlett's father, Gerald O'Hara, loves his land. So in my card I tried to evoke Mr. O'Hara's Irish background, and Scarlett's green eyes. The doily represents Scarlett's lacy corsets and tons of fine lace undergarments, that Mammy helped her dress into.
I used a SU background stamp with an Irish Prayer ~ May the wind be always at your back...
I did this week's 2S4U, Laura's Sketch 13.

I really enjoyed making this card. Lately, I can't seem to stop using my CB! Love it!!! I did Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge, WSC66. I had a difficult time placing the stamped phrase. I placed it in every possible way I could, but finally, decided to leave it where it is. Thank you Beate for a great sketch!
Thank you Big Sister Peanut for the stamp set!

Peaceful Wishes

This card makes me feel so peaceful and then I start thinking that Christmas is just around the corner...and I start making mental lists: several shopping lists, baking cookies, Christmas cards to mail, wrapping gifts, traffic, crowded stores, ahhhhhh....!!!!!! I am not ready yet!
I did Color Throwdown Challenge, CTD19: Not Quite Navy, Bravo Burgundy, Bordering Blue. I also did CCEE Stampers sketch challenge, A Sketchy Challenge, which was a past SCS sketch challenge, SC75, but with a Twist: change the square to another shape (I did a circle), and include eyelets (I used two).
I think this Christmas, my family is going to focus more on really celebrating Baby Jesus's Birthday!
SU Peaceful Wishes stamping set, VersaMark, SU CS, fine Aegan Silver embossing powder, silver marker, True Thyme stamp pad, brads, circle punches

Krazy for Kendra

Today's Featured Stamper , FS93, at SCS is Kendra. Congratulations Kendra! I love the way she uses bright cheery colors in all of her cards. I chose this card the minute I saw it! I don't know why I am in the mood for springy cards; must be that our weather feels like Spring and not Fall. I used SU Bali Breeze DP, and doted each polka dot with glitter glue, as well as the center of each blossom. I have been wanting to use these paper blossoms for the longest time. I used my scallop scissors to cut out the semi-circle. Well, gotta go! It's beautiful outside and need to catch some rays!
SU Lots of Thoughts stamp set, SU Craft Rose Red, glitter glue, paper blossoms, button, fussy yarn, SU CS

Wonderful Warm & Wooly Felt

Dear Hubbie and I are spending Christmas with his family in Minneapolis, and I'm hoping for a White Christmas! I can't wait to take out my scarves and gloves this Christmas. With that in mind, I did SCS Inspiration Challenge, IC154, The Felted Garden: Wonderful Warm Wooly Accessories. I chose this scarf as my inspiration. I love the soft smokey blue and warm brown used in the scarf. Thanks to my friend Karen's felt flowers, I was able to make this card. I used the Houndstooth CB folder for the background CS to give it some textured.

Happiness Always

I visited Boden USA Online Clothes Shop website and absolutely love their children's clothesline and choice of bright colors! I am happy to see that children are being dressed like children, and not like teenagers or adults. Well, that's just my opinion... I chose this dress as my inspiration, SCS's IC153, for my card. As a little girl I love wearing jumpers, and if I had a little girl...Yup! You guessed it! She would be wearing lots of dresses and lots of pink! I used the Houndstooth CB folder for the background DP and did faux sewing to stay with the clothesline inspiration.
SU CS & DP, SU big flower stamp & Happy Harmony stamp set, ribbon, button, SU Rose Red craft stamp pad, white gel pen, red marker, oval punch, CB Houndstooth folder

I love Snoopy & Woodstock!!! I bought this stamp last year right after Christmas at Michael's, and finally had a chance to use it along with the CB Snow Dots folders. I did this week's SC Color Challenge, CC192, and Sketch Challenge, SC202. I used Snow-Tex for snow, and I sprinkled fine White Crystal Snow over it, and let it dry~It is hard to see this because I scanned the card. I used a hodge podge of snowflakes, and sheer white ribbon. I was surprised to see how well these colors went together.
SU CS: Not Quite Navy, Basic Gray, Certainly Celery, SU Watercolor Pencils

What's Up?

I am little bit late with last's week's SCS Sketch Challenge, SC201, along with this week;s Limited Supply Challeng, LSC194. Thank you Big Sister "Peanut" for the Sunny Bee! I went through my scrap box, and put together this card. My friend Patti had given me the sun cutout several years ago. I took out my XYRON create-a-sticker and dusted it off to make the sun into a sticker. I used my CB folder to embossed the solid CS.
SU CS & DP, ribbon, bookplate, brads, SU Watercolor Wonder Crayons, G Studio Clear Stamp set

What KIND of Girl Are You?

You are a New Age Girl!

You're bright, opinionated, and dedicated to changing the world.

Even if it's one hybrid car at a time, you do you part to make things better.

In fact, you may be so busy with your causes that you have little time for love.

Take an extra yoga class or two, and you just might meet New Age Guy!

What YEAR Do You Belong In?

You Belong in 1984

Wild, over the top, and just a little bit cheesy. You're colorful at night - and successful during the day.

What Does YOUR Name Mean...

What Oliva Means
You are well rounded, with a complete perspective on life.
You are solid and dependable. You are loyal, and people can count on you.
At times, you can be a bit too serious. You tend to put too much pressure on yourself.

You are relaxed, chill, and very likely to go with the flow.
You are light hearted and accepting. You don't get worked up easily.
Well adjusted and incredibly happy, many people wonder what your secret to life is.

You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing.
You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long.
You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.

You are very hyper. You never slow down, even when it's killing you.
You're the type of person who can be a workaholic during the day... and still have the energy to party all night.
Your energy is definitely a magnet for those around you. People are addicted to your vibe.

You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection.
You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.
You have the classic “Type A” personality.

Today's Featured Stamper at SCS's, FS92, is Wendy Bell. She has so many great cards, that it was hard for me to pick one! I chose this card. I kept the same sketch, but had different stamps for the stars. I do have the star wheel, which I use VersaMark to roll on the CS. I used CB Traffic Jam embossed folder for the light blue paper. What is so neat about making this card, is that all of the supplies come from my "recycle box"...even the ribbon!
Congratulations Wendy!

Decorative Circle Medallion

SCS's Try A New Technique, TLC193, is a technique that Becca is an expert at. I visited her blog Amazing Paper Grace, and viewed the tutorial for this technique. She is an excellent teacher! I was able to easily follow her instructions.
I only have one decorative corner punch: SU Square Steps Corner Pocket Punch. I like the way it turned out. I decided not to add a sentiment and that way, I can use it as an all occasion card. I do need to invest in Nestabilities...It is a must!
Thank you Becca!

Complete Verve Holiday Sketch Blitz Days 1-5

Here are all five Challenges: VSHR1, VSHR2, VSHR3, VSHR4, VSHR5

Verve's Holiday Release Sketch - Day 5
This is my final card for Verve's challenge! Yeah!
I also did Color Throwdown's challenge CTD18: Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Pale Plum. I am panicking right now and typing as fast as I can, because I am desperately trying to upload my fifth card onto SCS Verve's Forum, and I can't!!! SCS is having some technical difficulties and I am dying here, because I may not be able to complete this challenge!!! Ahhhh....!!!!!!!!
I am very happy with the result of this card. I love the colors, and the different stamp sets I was able to use. I especially like the DP. Thank you so much for the fun challenge!

I really enjoyed creating this card. I did SCS Color Challenge, CS191: Old Olive, Pretty in Pink, Ruby Red. I am very please how my card turned out. I find it very pleasing to the eye. I really need to get a sewing machine. My hand is not too steady when I do faux sewing... I wonder if it will be the same with the sewing machine?! I'll just have to find out! Honestly, I had never heard of Verve Stamps before, so I don't own any. Thank you Julee for introducing me to another world.

This is Day 3 of Verve's Holiday Release Sketch Blitz, VSHR3. I also did SCS Thursday's Way to Use it challenge WT191. I love SU's Elegant Eggplant CS, and it goes so well with the DP. The challenge for me, believe it or not, was tying the perfect bow...!!! The phrase reads "Joy is not in things, it is in us".
SU Summer by the Sea & In Full Bloom stamp sets, ribbon, ticket corner punch, small hole punch, foam dots, scallop scissors

Verve Holiday Release Sketch Blitz-Day 2, VSHR2
I am trying to catch up on Verve's Holiday Release sketches...! I wish I had more time to stamp, and less time at work!!! I am not too sure if the ribbon fits, but I think it picks up the color from the CB Argyle embossed paper. I just realised that I don't have to many phrase stamps, and my handwriting is atrocious! So I will use what I have!

Let It Snow

I used Friday Sketchers Sketch Challenge nr 26 for this card. The stamp is part of a Michael's Christmas Stamp set that my friend Karen gave to me about a year ago. I love his cheery personality. The silver snowflake is from a Target set of Christmas Tags I had bought who knows when... I used SU Watercolor Pencils to color the snowman. I rubbed light blue chalk over the CB Snowflake embossed paper. I tried to use non-traditional wintry DP for the background. I am trying not to be too matchy-matchy... It was a challenge cutting the triangle to fit just right!!!

Isn't he cute!!!! I did Tuesday's Verve's Holiday Release Sketch Blitz, VSHR1. I really like this sketch because it was easy enough for me to put together, especially tonight that I have a headache. I used DeNami White Fluff for Kitty, and googly eyes. My Big Sis sent me the CB embossed paper as well as the Kitty Stamp set. I couln't wait to have an excuse and create something adorable!

Today at work, I was asked to make a card for our "Boss". A couple of weeks ago his mother suffered a stroke, and is now in rehab. She is having difficulty using her hands and with mobility. During his lunch hour, he visits his mother to assist her with her lunch. Mr. Williams puts in long hours at work, plus aiding his mother in any way he can. Our Department wants to let him know that we are thinking of him, and we are there for him. I would be proud to have a son like him.
I used Monday Mojo Madness Contest, Mojo59.
Thank you Julee! Great sketch!
SU Sincere Salutations & Nature's Wonders, SU CS, SU Buckaroo Blue, shells, ribbon, DP

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #4 is the movie Grease! What fun!!! I've seen this movie countless times and also the play, and can actually sing along... I didn't use a lot of stamping for this card. I had this Jolee's Stickers collage, that I had intended to make into a 50's birthday card, but never got around to it. I'm a little bit of a procrastinator! The only stamping I did was to use the SU On the Spot background stamp with SU Tempting Turquoise ink. When I think of the 50's, French Poodle skirts, turquoise and Pepto Pink come to mind! I did Jen del Muro's sketch SFYTT.
Michael's ribbon & SU ribbon, Marcella's Swell transfer

The Inspiration Challenge for this week at SCS is IC152 Don Li-Leger. I chose this piece of artwork to create my card. I love the simplicity and colors, and the poppies remind me of California. I chose yellow DP for the background to somehow match the California Golden Poppies...
The character reads "Harmony", and I wrote it myself. I don't have any Asian influenced stamps, so I gave it a try. The sketch is from Poetic Artistry by Julee Tilman, Mojo58.
SU Oh, So Lovely stamp set, SU Ruby Red stamp pad & marker, SU Forest Foliage marker, Silver & Gold Metallic markers, White Gel Pen, DP, SU CS
