Christmas Card Making

This is my one and only Christmas card I made so far, and not only that, the only one that has been given away too...where does the time go?!
Everything is cut up and ready to go, but I haven't been able to sit and get 'em done!

I heat embossed the stamp image using Tinsel Red embossing powder.  I used strips of various Christmas themed designer paper scraps ... my scrap box is finally cleaned!  I cheated a bit and used a Christmas tree cut out as a finishing touch!  The stamp is from the set of SU! Holiday Best.
Needless to say my cards are going to arrive a wee bit late this year ... shame shame shame on me...

Tea for Two

Yesterday afternoon I hosted my very first tea party, and it turned out very well!!!

My next door neighbor and friend Stephanie came over yesterday and we sat down to tea and Christmas cookies.  We had a very pleasant afternoon.

I set the family room glass table for this grand occasion.

I provided the Christmas cookies, and ...
Stephanie brought her favorite Christmas tea.  She says she drinks it year round, and I loved it!

This was my favor and Christmas card for Stephanie.
So blessed to have a wonderful neighbor!

Mailing Christmas Cards

Do you still mail out Christmas cards?
I still do; and this year I learned how important this tradition is to be continued.
In my CDA group, it's a tradition to mail out Christmas cards to those members who are referred as "shut ins" meaning they are home bound.
I signed up to mail 3 cards out.  I made these cards last month at our Stamping Class.

I am hoping this card has arrived in Italy by now.  Rosa has retired to Italy, and is actually not a shut in, but she's still a member of our group.
This card and the following one,

are for two of our ladies who are no longer able to join us in our monthly meetings.
I am hoping that these cards bring a little Christmas cheer and know that they are not forgotten.

Christmas Cookie Exchange Party

Last Friday afternoon I hosted our first Ladies 9-Hole es Golf League Christmas cookie exchange party at my place.  There were a total of 9 ladies who actually signed up to bake cookies for the exchange (including me).  For those ladies that are not bakers or didn't need to bake, were more than welcome to come and join the fun!  We ended up with a total of 13 fun loving and cheery ladies!
I made a total of 18 dozen Melting Moments cookies.

This picture was taken right after we all did the cookie exchange.
All loaded up and ready to go home and take a nap, and others on their way to the next Christmas party!!!

BOY did we have FUN ... as you can see!
All the ladies arrived on the dot, and
we started off with cocktails and visiting.

We all sat down for a luncheon.  The ladies had a choice of Loaded Baked Potato Soup and Quick & Easy Chicken Noodle Soup or both.  I also served a very easy to make Holiday Champagne Punch and for dessert a taste of our home baked Christmas cookies.
I had no time to take pictures of the decorated dinner table and food 😞

Jack and Daphne were able to come and join us after we sat down for coffee in the family room.  Jack is such a loving baby and was so happy to meet everyone.  Daphne ... not so much.  She was happy to be in mommy's arms the whole time.

So blessed to have fun and loving friends!

Baby Shower Gifts

Our CDA group hosted a "Baby Shower for Baby Jesus" and all baby gifts collected were donated to First Way Pregnancy Center.

I decided to make two receiving blankets to give.
They were so easy to make, and in no time I sewed two.

I had 4 yards of flannel, and I followed Patchwork Posse's 30 Minute Baby Blanket tutorial.
I wish I would be able to meet the babies that will be wrapped with these blankets.

These two pictures show just a few of the baby shower gifts:

Every good and perfect gift is from above.

What plans?

Life is upredictable...DUH!!!
Or just a reminder that daily life no matter how well planned, organized, orderly and long To Do can all change in a heartbeat!

That's exactly what happened this past Saturday.
Hubbie ended up in the emergency room.  He had not been feeling well...and being my "typical man", of course finally made an appointment to see his doctor for this coming week...but his health didn't want to wait that long!  I hope this was a lesson learned for his sake.

Well after long hours at the ER and lots of tests, it turns out that he had extremely high blood pressure and other issues.  Short Story: now Hubbie is following up with a cardiologist and several tests!!!
I'm praying that all goes well and he'll be fine!

Talking about planning and trying to be organized, on Saturday I was all set to go to a Ladies Christmas Exchange Party.  I was to bring a dish to share and a handmade gift.  Handmade gift and dish prepared a day ahead.  All I had to do early on Saturday morning was to pop my scalloped potatoes in the oven to bake, get ready and load gift in the car and be on my merry way...ha!!!!
My handmade exchange gift is now mine, and we have a huge baking pan of scalloped potatoes to eat and share for the rest of the week! may not be a good idea to eat the potatoes...

The greatest wealth is HEALTH.

Cantata and Cookies

Last Sunday afternoon I attended our Church's yearly Christmas Cantata and it was absolutely wonderful!!!
This was the first time for me attending this program, and I'm so happy to have experienced it.

We are so lucky to have a great music director!

After the program, my CDA group hosted a reception for all attending guests to meet and greet our participating choir, director, soprano and musicians in the church's hall.
So many caring and generous church members provided delicious cookies for all to enjoy.

This beautiful cookie platter of delicious citrus cookies, date nut log slices and strawberry marzipan were the shining star of all cookies!!!  Just about every one requested to know who was the wonderful baker of these delicious sweets.
As of now, we still don't know who the "star baker" is; but is our mission to find out!

It was a very pleasant and wonderful afternoon for all of us to share in this Christmas event.

Great Love of God

The Christmas Nail

Today is our CDA Christmas Party at Church, and I made this favor/card for each of our members.
I found this really neat poem about The Christmas Nail while browsing through Pinterest.  I thought it would be just perfect to give to our Ladies and so very appropriate for this time of year.

 ~back of card~

The nails were donated by Hubbie for this project!

This picture was taken last night while I was still working on cards.  Happy to report that I finally completed all 50+ cards & ready to party!!!

Believe in LOVE, GRACE and HOPE!

Book Page Christmas Wreath

I made this Christmas wreath using music sheets torned from two different hymnbooks.

It's not for me.  It's for a Christmas gift exchange.
Tomorrow I'm attending a Christmas Party at Vivian's, and we are to bring a handmade gift to exchange.

I hope whoever ends up with this wreath likes it.
Now I want to make one for myself!

If you would like to give it a try and make your own, you can read this post how-to when I made my Give Thanks Wreath.

Some Christmas Cheer

A new Christmas decoration addition for 2016.

Some oldies but goodies!

A lonely Nutcracker!

His & Hers stockings.

Very slowly, but surely the Christmas decorations are making another yearly appearance in our home.

A Santa here and there ...
snowflakes, and ...

HAPPY are they who take life day by day,
complain very LITTLE, and are THANKFUL
for the LITTLE things in LIFE.

Poinsettias and A Picture

Every Christmas is a must for us to have Poinsettias in our home.  Dutiful Hubbie came home with 4 this year.  He picked really pretty ones this year!!!

Picture: Church had picture day for all members. Hubbie and I are not big on having our picture taken, but we went ahead and did it.  I'm happy we did.  I think our picture came out really good!  The last professional photograph was taken 8-10 years ago!  This picture of us will be added to our church's directory coming out in the new year.

Beautiful red flowers!

So pretty!

These flowers make our home so festive!

Poinsettia in our bedroom, and ...
a white one to boot!
