Crochet Head Warmers

Cold weather arrived here at the Twin Cities much earlier than expected, and I needed something warm to keep my ears from freezing.  I noticed a lot more ladies/girls around here wearing the cutest headband warmers, that I decided to make one for myself.
I found this pattern on Ravelry and it turned out to be so easy to make and most darn cute!!!
So far I have made several head warmers in different colors and yarns.
I have to say that this one is my favorite!  I love the color of the yarn and it's so soft and warm.
I used this crochet flower pattern for this head warmer.
**sorry for the blurry pics...I used my camera phone & my eyes are getting really bad...
I finished this taupe color one 2 nights ago, and I really love it too!
I used this crochet flower pattern for this head warmer from I'm Frayed Knot.
I have been making different crochet flowers for the head warmers I've made so far.  I think I just get bored with making the same flower pattern over and over again.
Tomorrow I will paying a visit to a nearby yarn shop called Skeins and see what nice yarns I find for more head warmers to make as gifts.

A True Pumpkin Patch

Last month I fell in love with these pumpkins and ended up making a set for myself using Priscilla's crochet pumpkin pattern.
My sister-in-law Jan love them at first site, and I gave her a set...then her Bunco group friends saw them and wanted them too!!!

So...this is the crochet pumpkin making mad dash marathon to meet those orders...
 ...large pumpkins...
 and more large pumpkins...
 custom orders...
 and small & medium pumpkins!!!

So now...Jan and I plan on making other fallish projects for sale at our local farmers market for next year...which means I better start working on this right after the holidays are over!!!

Jan deals with the business and customer service part of our new post retirement business venture, and I do the creative part of it...LOL!!!

But for this year, I'm pumpkined out!!!

Fall Colors in MN

Just a peek at our Maple tree...
I guess fall has arrived slowly but surely...
 The colors are so vibrant.
 Steps to our front door.
See the little tricycle?  Found it at a garage block sale for $3!  It reminded me so much of my very own little tricycle...childhood memories.  It belonged to the couples grown son.
Oops...I guess it's time to put the bunny away.
Mums are a sure sign of fall.
I found the blue pot at a garage sale for a mere $1!!!
My father-in-law's unfinished rocking chair and the chair on the steps, holding plants.  The chairs have no seats and were collecting dust in the basement.  So I thought how nice it would be to use them in the garden and hold plants.

I am simply in awe of its daily changes in color.
I picked up the 3 pots (I planted hostas) for free at a garage sale at the beginning of the summer.
This is my first experience of fall from beginning and hopefully to the end.  Being from the Phoenix Valley, we simply don't experience anything like this.

Vanity Table Project

Over the summer I worked on making a crochet edging for my late mother-in-law's vanity table.
I had never before done anything like this before.  I would work on it, and put it away when I got tired of it, and then I would take it out and start crocheting again in hopes I would be done eventually!!!
I found the pattern (picture #4) here.
I cut a piece of white fabric to fit the tabletop.
I then pinned the crochet edging all around it,
 and sewed by hand.
Once I was finished with the tablecloth,
I placed a piece of handmade paper on top of the tablecloth,
and then cut around it to fit the tabletop, and finally place the glass top and voila...DONE!
Now all I have to do is pretty up the top with bottles of perfumes and of course, a vanity table mirror!  Also, Hubby will be giving the table a second coat of paint.
I am so proud of myself, and I am just so very happy to have been able to finish it!!!

Halloween Spoolie for Viv

Viv and I participated in Deb's Spoolie Swap, and Viv was my partner.
This is the Halloween/Fall spoolie I made for her:

 Front of spoolie...
and the back of the spoolie.
I didn't use a traditional wooden spoolie, but used one that belonged to my mother-in-law.  Woolworth's...I wonder how old this spool is?
This was such a great fun swap!  Thank you Deb for hosting!

Pink Saturday

I have been on a crochet marathon lately.  I guess because I don't have any of my stamping/art supplies here in MN, I have turned to crochet and knitting.  I am currently working, that is between 2-3 other on going projects, on an all pink afghan.
Being that it is a cloudy cool day with a chance of rain, I decided to make myself comfy and crochet my day away.
Dried hydrangeas in a pink vase.
I enjoyed drinking several cups of good hot coffee.
This is one 6" x 6 " granny square of more to come.  It's called Fill'r Up Afghan filler block
My plan is to make the afghan up with a variety of granny square patterns in all shades of complimenting pink colors.
The old fashioned timeless granny square.
I found this rectangular dish at a local estate sale and fell in love with it.  It's so delicate.
I decided to use it as a crochet hook holder/rest.
I wish I knew it's true purpose.  Do you?
This morning, I decided to drink coffee out of an actual coffee cup and
I think coffee tastes so much better and enjoyable, too.
Maybe, I can do this again tomorrow...
Just a Gentle Reminder:

I participated in Deb's Spoolie Swap, and Viv was my partner.
Viv is super creative and this is what I received from her.

 She's so beautiful!

These acorns are just too cute!
The Bingo card is stunning!
Thank you so much Viv!  I had so much fun playing!
