I learned a new technique called Silhouettes. There are different ways to create the silhouette look.
What I did was use a background stamp inked in Cool Caribbean stamped onto the white card stock. Then I stamped the same background image onto similar ink card stock and then I ran it through the Big Shots using a butterfly die cut. I cut 2 big butterflies, and I glued them at the center. Then I ran a pearl stick pin through it, and then glued it onto the background.
It gives it a 3-D effect.
I used foam tape to adhere the square silhouette image onto the card, and used twine to embellish the card.

January Cards for a Cause

One of my new year's resolutions is to volunteer or help others in need.
SplitCoastStampers has a monthly challenge called Cards for A Cause. It's an invitation to participate in giving/donating cards for a monthly cause. These month's cards will be mailed to Places of Hope.
Places of Hope is a state licensed organization in Stuart, Florida, which provides support and housing for kids for adoption. The cards requested are for birthdays, thank you and encouragement. The inside of the cards must be blank. I went through my box of cards and selected 10 which I had made or I received from swaps that I have participated in.
I hope these set of 10 cards will bring a smile to a child waiting for a home.
Just a reminder that today is the last day for you to sign up for my blog candy giveaway!

June Christmas Card Challenge

These are my June Christmas cards for the 2011 Christmas Card Challenge at SplitCoastStampers. I am making a set of 12 cards for each month.
For this set of cards I used a technique that Tim Holtz used during his 12 tags of Christmas-Day 10. He used clear plastic packaging and then he embossed it with a snowflake embossing folder. I didn't have any thick clear plastic packaging, but I do have a boxful of transparency film.

You can see the embossed transparency film. I wanted to give it a look of falling snowflakes over the Merry Carolers.

Inside message:
May your days be happy,
your heart be light,
your Christmas merry,
and the new year bright.
I added a metal snowflake embellishment held with a corsage pin.

I did a technique called masking in making this card. I did not want to color the background, so I sponged/rubbed it with Bliss Blue.
I don't like to do a lot of coloring by hand, but I actually enjoyed it. I might give coloring another try.

Stamp Set: Merry Carolers
Paper: Whisper White,
Ink:Glorious Green, Garden Green, Green Galore, Bashful Blue, Ballet Blue, Tempting Turquoise, Summer Sun, Yoyo Yellow, Marvelous Magenta, Lavender Lace, Pink Passion, Real Red, Pretty In Pink, Positively Pink, Blush Blossom, Creamy Caramel, & Close to Cocoa SU! markers; Bliss Blue stamp ink, Black acid free dye ink
Accessories: metal snowflake embellishment, transparency film, ribbon, corsage pin, top note die cut, snowflake embossing folder

Clean & Simple

I played along with SplitCoastStampers Clean & Simple weekly challenge. CAS102's challenge was a sketch challenge. The sketch was inspired by cindybstampin's card Just A Little Note.

I didn't use any stamp images at all. I used my heart punches, Cuttlebug heart embossing folder, and Valentine's scrap paper.

I hope you like it.

May Christmas Card Challenge

I cannot believe myself! I am done with my Christmas cards for the month of May! As some of you are aware, I am participating in SplitCoastStampers' 2011 Christmas Card Challenge. These set of 12 cards are my CCC11 May cards.
When I saw this card made by Connie at Inspired Treasures, I knew I had to case it! I fell in love with the tree, and the technique is called folded Christmas tree. You have to play a bit when folding the tree, but it wasn't hard at all! Here is Connie's template, or visit her blog.

I did not stamp a message on the inside of the card, but embossed the bottom edge of the note card part with Cuttlebug's embossing folder called Snow Dots.

Thank you for stopping by!
Paper: Stampin' Up! Garden Green, Pear Pizzaz, Chocolate Chip, & Confetti card stock, double sided Christmas Designer Paper
Ink: Garden Green

April Christmas Card Challenge

This is my April Christmas card for SplitCoastStampers' Christmas Card Challenge 2011.
I love House Mouse Stamps, but I don't use them too much. The reason being is that I don't think I color very well, but have to admit that I did enjoy coloring this adorable stamp image. I think the more I practice coloring, the better I'll get.

Ink: watercolor pencils, watercolor crayons, blenders, black ink, Ruby Red & Garden Green

I love the packaging!

It was a great surprise to find more inside the heart!

February Christmas Card Challenge

So far so good that I'm keeping up with this SplitCoastStampers' Christmas Card Challenge 2011!
My second set of 12 cards are based on Tracie's card she sent to me last Christmas. Thank you Tracie for the inspiration!

inside message...

I used a lot of my Christmas scrapbook paper for the squares. It almost cleaned out my scrap box, and it was actually relaxing punching all of these squares while sitting down watching TV with Hubby.
The snowflakes are from the Dollar Store. I haven't decided yet if I want to add a sentiment to the front of the card. The good thing is that there's still time to take care of that.

I really enjoyed playing along with SplitCoastStamper's weekly Featured Stamper Challenge. You get to know other amazing stamper's artwork and style. This week's featured stamper is Tracy, aka Whoistracy, FS206. I chose this card to case. I like the simplicity and whimsy of her card. Also, I enjoy making clean and simple cards.

CD Case Calendar

I finally made a CD case calendar! I've been wanting to make one for like the last 4 years!
The opportunity finally arise and I took it! I needed to make a quick birthday gift for a coworker. The hard part was finding an empty CD case that folded. Argh...I went through several until I found one!

The recipient of this gift, loves to wear black, so I used basic black & Stampin' Up!'s Going Grey. I went through my stash of rhinestone stickers and pearls, and added some to each page.
I downloaded the 2011 calendar template from Flourishes. The best part is that it's free!

I went through my stamp sets to find motivational sentiments for each month.

Get Well Soon

I am a lucky to be a healthy person. Now that I'm a year older is a totally different matter. I do have to watch what I eat, put in my 45 plus minutes of daily exercise, rest, meditate, drink plenty of fluids, and not let things get to other words STRESS! Stress is my downfall!

Towards the end of 2010 and beginning of 2011. I had a nasty bout with bronchitis. Not fun!
So due to my illness, I decided to make a set of get well cards to send and bring a little cheer to those loved ones who fall ill. Now this is another card I don't get to make very often, but are much needed to have on hand.

I am CASING whiterockmama's card seen here. She was the first 2011 Featured Stamper of the year at SplitCoastStampers: FS204. I just fell in love with her card, and really didn't go too far from her sketch as you can see.
Wishing you a healthy 2011!

Birthday IV

I promise these are the last of my birthday card series...LOL!
For the top card I used stickers for scrap booking and I made the flower using a flower die cut. I distressed the flower, and sponged the petals with More Mustard ink. For the center of the flower I used dimensional glaze and sprinkled with sugar dust.

Now for this one I simply used paper lace sticker and more stickers. For the center of the flower I used bangle bling I found on sale at Michael's.
It feels good to clean up and use up what I have on hand! Which!!!

Birthday III

I hope I'm not boring you with another repeat of the same layout card. I did a little twist here. I scored the border punched strip of card stock and then I used Martha Stewart's sticker ribbon. It was a cinch to adhere!
The bottom layer is that printed vellum paper I had mentioned before. I wonder where I can find more of that vellum paper???

Happy Birthday II

As I was going through my card stock stash, I found this really neat designer paper vellum. It was a 12" x 12" paper with 4 squares of printed lace. For the blue I made these 2 cards. I used what I had in hand. I really want to clean out my scrap box full of paper. I also dusted off my Pretties Kit and started using some silk flowers. What am I saving them for???
One accessory I cannot be without are rhinestone and pearl stickers. I love them!!!

Happy Birthday

New Year calls for BIRTHDAYS!!!

Birthdays in my family start off the bat...January 3rd, and don't stop until December 27th! These do not include close relatives and I need to start working on having a nice stash of birthday cards!

I found the lace at a neighborhood garage sale for 50 cents!

The designer paper is actually printed vellum I found going through my stash of card stock.

I have to admit that I struggle making these cards. I have never worked with lace before. Originally the lace was to hang down, but it just didn't look good to me, so I took it apart and placed it at the top. How hard can it be to make a simple card!?!
