Red Bird of Paradise

This is our Red Bird of Paradise (Caesalpinia pulcherrima). This plant is at its blooming peak right now, and wanted to share it with you. The key to its lushness this summer, is that it must be prune as soon as it stops blooming and starts to become dormant.
During our hot summers in the Valley, it's so nice to have something that blooms so colorfully!

I want to get one of those so bad. We have honeysuckle...but I don't think it survived the heat this year and no rain! Your plant is lovely!
