Farmers Market Day

I love coming home from a morning spent at our local farmer's market with fresh bright fruit and vegetables.
This time I bought gold beets to try out in a salad like the one below.
Hubby had this roasted beet salad at a local restaurant last month, and it was so yummy!
I'll let you know how it turns out.

Honestly my most favorite thing is getting beautiful and colorful flower bouquets!!!
Sunflowers have to be my favorite flowers.  So sunny and cheerful.
This time I splurged and bought another flower bouquet as well.
Zinnias remind me of Mom's garden.  Mom has always love gardening; and her garden never failed to have all kinds of different flowers, fruit trees, herbs, and all kinds of other plants.  Now that she's older she has switched more to container gardening, and her patio always looks so alive and colorful!

Anyways...because it was about half and hour to closing time, the bouquets were $1 cheaper (originally $8 each), and...
as a bonus Mom and I received a giant delicious free donut from this bakery stand that was ready to close.  The vendors only sell fresh baked goods to their customers, and these leftover donuts were going to go to waste.  I'm sure they probably are donated to a food bank or home shelter.

These coming Sunday my big splurge will be handmade scented (with essential oils) hand soaps, Wisconsin cheese, local honey, jellies, jams and pickles.
