Crock Pot Oatmeal
I love oatmeal!
As soon as the weather gets cooler, I can just about have it daily for breakfast.
Since I'm the only one that likes it here at home, I tend to cook it in the microwave just for my lonely self the old fashion way, and it has become boring.
Hubby doesn't like it one bit. He says it tastes like glue. I had no idea he had ever tasted glue before...interesting!
I came across this recipe on Pinterest, using the crock pot. Fix It & Forget It is my cooking motto.
I made it and it actually is very good and tasty, and will definitely make it again this way.
I replaced the cinnamon powder with a cinnamon stick.
Next time I make this crock pot oatmeal, I will double the sugar, maybe add 3/4 cups more water. and make sure I sprinkle the sugar evenly over apples.
Directly from the Pin: Throw 2 sliced apples, 1/3 cup brown sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon in the bottom of the crock pot. Pour 2 cups of oatmeal and 4 cups of water on top. Do NOT stir. Cook overnight for 8 – 9 hours on low.
It makes a cozy winter breakfast for any day of the week. Next time I would like to try other fruit besides apples (peaches, raisins, blueberries, strawberries, banana chips) and nuts. I stored individual portions in containers for my weekly breakfast.
Yummy Yum!!!
PS: The crock pot was easy to clean. I let it soaked for an hour or so, and the stuck on sugar/oatmeal mixture came right off!
